Site ‘Raising the Roof’ was a home on different levels. The dining area and kitchen were on one level, the lounge down 3 stairs, the entertainment / braai room area on another level alongside the enclosed patio. Each room was further alienated by walls making the home feel closed, dark and with very little flow. 

The brief from the clients – they wanted an open plan home that allowed easy entertaining as they loved to have friends and family over. 

With the home and roof pitches at different levels, the solution was to literally raise the roof – take it all off! From there, we demolished walls and raised some areas by 1m and slightly more to align with the highest level that was the dining room originally.  New trusses were laid and the existing roof tiles reused. 

Careful thought was given to the choice of finishes, colours, textures, fittings and accessories to further enhance the new seamless and open living space we had created for the clients. 

The result of the above was a resounding success with extremely happy clients who entrusted each part of the project to us completely!
